Bio

You can track the tags on the side of my journal to get a feel for what I normally talk about, but generally it tends to be a lot about my process of writing and then some random updates about my life. The theme, if any, is "me," so it's basically me talking to myself about myself, and if you find it interesting, please come again.

If you just can't wait to know ABOUT me, or can't be bothered to read through four years of journal entries to try and suss it yourself, here are the deets: I'm a mid-thirties female, married with one child, and I live in Iowa. (HENCE THE HANDLE.) I'm quite tall. (ALSO THE HANDLE.) I keep this journal because the theory here is that eventually I plan to make all this writing I do bring in a bit of money, so on the one hand, exposure, but since I don't like exposure, it's also practice at exposure. But over the years, it's also become a way for friends to keep tabs on me, and a log for my life. So sometimes there are essays, and sometimes there are book reviews, and sometimes there are little updates only locals will care about, and sometimes it's family stuff because family reads and wants to know. It's pot luck here, in short. Much like life.

You can scan my interests below, and again, see the tags, but since lately I'm writing a lot of m/m romance, you probably shouldn't hang around long if that makes you go "ew." It doesn't make me go "ew" at all, and in fact I quite like it, so there will be an increasing amount of it. I have nothing against f/f either, and intend to try that eventually (probably just in fiction, but hey, never second guess your life) but there's only so much time in the day. Basically right now my interest is in gender: gender typing, gender relations, gender everything. I love, love, LOVE good transgender lit, but damn is it hard to find. I like playing with gender, and turning it on its head, and examining it from every angle I can think of. Sex is good, too, but I like the relationship bits more. Or, at least, sex with the relationship left in. I will say, though, that if you are just ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN by me and fiction snippets I roll out and must read more RIGHT NOW, you can go here and read some stuff for free, in particular the big ass novel I can't figure out what to do with.

Side note: This year (2009) I've been diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Disorder read all about it), a condition which occasionally tosses me into chronic and sometimes acute pain similar to fibromyalgia. I might even have that, too, who knows--the fun is still expanding on that front. Anyway, you should know that when the shit hits the fan, I tend to blog it for release. Sometimes I am cute and colorful. Sometimes I snark. Sometimes I am seriously pissed off, and other times very depressed. I'm trying not to let it take over the journal anymore than I am letting it run my life, but sometimes that's a fail on both fronts. You are now forewarned.
